The Prophet of MacArthur Park

$3.33

This is a beautifully written, inspirational, thought-provoking, visionary story.  Sunrise in the famous MacArthur Park: a t.v. news reporter and others watch in disbelief as a man is standing on the water in the middle of the pond, then walks across the water and leaves the Park.  As he makes other appearances, the Park is overwhelmed with people and news media; questions are asked and lives are changed in unexpected ways.

THE PROPHET OF MacARTHUR PARK is basically the result of being homeless and broke in April 2010.  I was living out of my suv and became a regular denizen of the Park.  Sitting there at the crack of dawn one morning I watched the sun peek over the buildings and onto the huge pond.  I imagined seeing a man standing on water in the middle of the pond, then leaving and returning at the same time over the next two days, and the results thereof.  I became obsessed with writing the story where questions were asked, answers given and conveyed spiritual truths without sermonizing based upon religious dogma.  I did not think I was capable of writing the story until I remembered THE FOUR ANGELS and the words of Dr. W.

THE FOUR ANGELS is a heartwarming, you can’t stop reading once you begin story. A young boy in a single parent, poor family is determined to overcome obstacles, and provide his mother and younger sister with a special Christmas Day.

I wrote the short story THE FOUR ANGELS over 3 days around Christmas 2000.  While selling Timeshares a few months later I had a 60+ year old lady, her daughter, and granddaughter as potential buyers.  The eldest, E.W. had a Phd in education.  Her daughter had a Phd in Marine Biology, and the granddaughter was in Medical School.  Paperwork processing would take 15 minutes or so, thus, I asked them if they would like to read a short story I had written.   I explained it would be a great opportunity to see how 3 highly educated different generations would view the story.  They agreed. When I came back about 15 minutes or so later all three had hankies out.  After I sat down E.W.  asked where I had learned to write and was shocked when I admitted I had not graduated High School.  She stared at me and  told me, "young man, you need to quit everything you're doing and write".  The other two voiced their agreement and I had to make each one of them a copy of the story and autograph it.
